Spare Chastity Device

I’ve been thinking a lot lately of ordering myself a second device, most likely another custom steel one from Mature Metal.  Since I last had my current Queen’s Keep adjusted again it has been a lot better, but I’m still not sure that we’re QUITE there yet..  So despite everything I’ve already gone through with various devices and with the Queen’s Keep being by far the best so far, I guess you could say that I am still in search of that ultimate, perfect device for myself!

I’ve been thinking that this time I will probably go with the Jail Bird as opposed to the Queen’s Keep.  They are basically the exact same device, but the Queen’s Keep has a much wider bar at the base of the cage portion.  Generally speaking, I personally prefer that look over just having the thinner bar at that location, but I think that changes a little bit with the extra-short length that I need for the cage to be.  When I first ordered the Queen’s Keep at 1 3/4″ long, I was very pleased with how it looked.  But once I had it shortened down to about 1 1/4″, which is about as short as it can go, now the “center ring” is basically welded directly to that wide base ring, with pretty much no space between them at all.  When it’s that short, I tend to think it might actually be better to have the narrower base ring of the Jail Bird so it will still have fairly even spacing between all of the bars.

You can see here the difference between a Queen’s Keep at 1 3/4″ vs. 1 1/4″ lengths.

When it comes to specifying the length of a new device, I’m still a little bit torn on how long I should try to make this one..  The original 1 3/4″ was definitely a bit too long, as I would often not be anywhere near touching the end of the cage when completely flaccid.  When it was that long, I also had the optional security pins, so the shortest one of those would tend to at least keep everything kind of pushed down where it needed to be.  Once I had it shortened, it was no longer possible to fit the security pins into the picture so they came out.  So now I’m at 1 1/4″ length, which sometimes almost seems to be too SHORT!  I say that because I’ve noticed several times that I almost push out of the back of it quite a bit and there is a lot of extra skin that sort of wraps itself up around the outside of the cage, starting at the base and working its way up a little ways.  But then other times I DON’T really see that problem much, so I don’t know!  I might just split the difference and try 1 1/2″ or something…  At least I know that the length can be adjusted later if need be; it’ll just be another fee if I don’t get it right this time!

Another measurement that I think I will change is the inside diameter of the cage.  Mature Metal has told me in the past that for the best fit you should always be touching both the tip and the sides of the cage, even when at your smallest.  My current cage has a 1 3/8″ diameter, which I went with in the beginning because that is the same size as the CB-6000s which I had already gotten used to wearing.  It works pretty well, but there are definitely times when I am NOT touching the sides all the way around!  I do think I should make that just a little bit tighter, it’s just a question of how much.  It looks like they can make it as small as 1″ around, and go up in 1/8″ increments from there.  Most likely I will only go down one increment, to 1 1/4″.  It might be ok all the way down to 1 1/8″, but I’m a little worried about making it too small and not being able to even squeeze into it!  The only other problem is that this is the only measurement that CANNOT be adjusted later.  So whatever I order now, if it’s still too big then eventually I’ll have to just order yet another new cage to go down another notch.

wpid-canstockphoto2867977.jpgFinally, I have also been thinking about what size to order the new base ring.  I’ve been going between 1 3/4″ & 1 5/8″ lately, and neither of those really seem to be a perfect fit.  The 1 3/4″ ring is just slightly too big, so it does tend to rotate around a bit on its own.  But I tried the 1 5/8″ ring for a while, and just could NOT get my body used to it!  Generally speaking it was OK during the day when I was up and moving around, but somehow as soon as I would lay down on my back or side, it would just feel like my balls were being clamped in a vice.  I have no idea what the science is behind what changes with a man’s anatomy when laying down, but I can say for sure that it was NOT a pleasant feeling in the least!  I would have to get up several times a night to go to the bathroom and get everything adjusted again so I could try to go back to sleep.  After 2-3 weeks and countless hours of lost sleep I finally had to give up on that one and go back to the larger, 1 3/4″ ring.

That leaves me with a few different options when ordering the base ring for a new device.

1) Stick with the 1 3/4″ ring that I know works, but is just slightly too loose.

2) Order a 1/2 size BETWEEN the two.  That would make it 1 11/16″.  I know that MM can do that, the only thing is that they say with an in-between size like that they could never go back and change that one later…  I don’t know why, but I’ll take their word for it.

3) Order it at 1 3/4″ but make it seem smaller by making it a DOUBLE ring!

Lately, option 3 has been the most appealing to me.  The funny thing is that when you look at the ordering options for any chastity device on Mature Metal’s site, it doesn’t even give an option of a double ring.  But if you go to a different section of the site and look only at locking cock rings, you can get them either as a single or double!  So I asked MM if it was possible to get a double base ring for chastity, and was told to just make a note in the comments section to make it a double, for a $40 upcharge.  That doesn’t seem too bad.  I also found out that as a previous customer who already bought the security screw/keys, rather than purchase those all over again they can just thread the new cage to accept the same screws, for only $10.  Nice!

Back to the double rings, that option has really piqued my interest lately for a couple of reasons.  One is that it almost seems like at times when you ARE trying to get hard and the cage is getting pretty tight, it might feel better having the pressure spread across more area behind the balls rather than just having the thinner ring kind of digging in.  Sounds good in theory, anyway!

The other reason is that it could make the whole thing just minutely smaller, hopefully just not quite all the way down to the size of the 1 5/8″ that I’ve had issues with!  Again this is just in theory, but I’m basing it on a little “ring problem” that Angel ran into way back when we were getting married.  I had already purchased her engagement ring and wedding band, as a matching set.  She had been wearing the engagement ring for quite a while already, and it was sized appropriately so she had no issues with it.  However, the day before the ceremony, she decided to try on the wedding band with it as well to see how it was going to look once everything was melded together.  What she did NOT realize, was that even though they were the same size, by making the ring wider she actually had to increase the size in order for it to still fit her finger properly!  The ring ended up getting stuck, and Angel nearly panicked as it began cutting off circulation and really hurting her finger!

Fortunately, after a little time and lots of soapy water, Angel finally managed to get the ring off with no harm done.  She even still had time to take it to the jeweler to have it resized before the wedding!  But the point of that story as it relates to chastity devices, is that since I am already starting slightly too big I am kind of hoping that by ordering a double ring it might make it just enough smaller to fit “just right.”  We will just have to see if I’m right.  I will say one thing though, when Angel and I exchanged wedding rings several years ago, I’m quite sure she never dreamed that now we’d be talking about near-permanent cock/chastity rings too! Lol

So I’m not really making a whole lot of changes from my current measurements, so I’ve been debating if it is really worth getting a whole new device.  After all, I’m sure I could save some money by just ordering a double ring to fit my current Queen’s Keep and maybe have the length extended back out by 1/4″ again.  But then I do have to send the whole thing back in, meaning at least a week or so of not having my device at all.  Ever since I gave Angel control, and she has gotten VERY into it herself, that has become a rather hard pill to swallow!  So I think it would be very nice to at least have a “spare” device.  We can see how the Jail Bird fits with the measurements I mentioned here, and if it needs any tweaking I will still be able to wear the Queen’s Keep while I send that one back.  Likewise, if I should ever decide to make any more adjustments to the Queen’s Keep, I would still have another device to wear in the interim!

I’ve been tweaking several SS devices lately and learning a lot. I like having a couple acceptable devices. There is a BIG digger ended between 1.35″ cage ID and 1.25″. I find my skin folds can work themselves outside the bars with 1.25″, and never do with 1.35″. Length of cage vs device: And a double O ring would extend the length of the entire device, so wouldn’t that sort of require a shorter cage? I have 2 closed end cap designs that are only .20″ different in length and feel very different, as the shorter one constantly reminds me by touching the end of me constantly. The longer one is easier to forget about. Finally, one may be able to tweak cage diameter by cutting the rings open and welding in the gap. I’ve done this with idividual rings successfully.

All very good points, thank you so much for sharing! I don’t know anything about welding stainless steel, so I think I’ll leave that to the device makers–Mature Metal in this case!

Just a couple of questions: do you tend to prefer the shorter cage with a “constant reminder,” or the longer cage that you can forget about more easily? With different lengths, do you notice any difference at all when it comes to lining things up to use the bathroom, etc?

As for the double base ring extending the device, that’s true but I don’t really think it would require a shorter cage.. I think my single ring now is already stretched as far forward as possible on the balls, so just doubling it up couldn’t really make it go any further in that direction. My guess is that the back ring will actually just take up space in the OTHER direction, possibly (hopefully, even) making the whole ring feel just a tiny bit more snug- but without actually going down by a full ring size. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see if that’s true at all!

  2. I have a plastic CB6000 as an alternative/spare. I bought it for travel and concert wear. Metal detectors aren’t a worry when wearing it. It isn’t as nice as my jailbird, but I don’t usually wear it longer than a day!!

    • pcguy0681 says:

Ah, yes- I used to have one of those as well, specifically the CB-6000s. That was my primary/only device for quite a while, until I went custum. I used it for a spare after that, but it’s broken now and I don’t really feel like spending any more money on those..

I have also not had any issues with metal detectors so far, even with my Queen’s Keep!

      • I tried going through the metal detector at work recently wearing the Steelheart and it went off. I had my ID badge hanging from my belt as a fall back. Haven’t tried it again. I now have a custom 3D printed nylon EvotionWearables cage for travel and those times when a custom metal device is not practical.

        • pcguy0681 says:

I learned recently that apparently with stainless steel it takes a lot more than with other metals to set off detectors. I’m thinking it could even just take the difference between having an “open” design for a cage where there are just a few bars with spaces between them, vs. a solid, fully enclosed tube. If I’m remembering correctly the steelheart is a completely enclosed, solid piece, right?

          • Yes, completely closed tube. MrsL isn’t a fan of open designs even though she agreed to the EvotionWearables cage for travel.

            • pcguy0681 says:

That’s what I thought, that those are completely closed. My running theory at the moment is that that’s the main difference between the two different experiences you and I have encountered at metal detectors so far.

I can certainly see the appeal of fully enclosed tubes, but besides the metal detector aspect it also has always seemed to me that those would be a lot more difficult to keep clean without taking it all the way off fairly regularly. Or maybe it’s just me, and I’m just too lazy to put in that extra work every day! 🙂

  3. Note to self, if I ever get this far…..he does all the measuring and figuring. It seems like eyeballing it would not be the best course of action. Holy crap….like college chem101 all over again reading that post!

    • pcguy0681 says:

Lol that’s true! I will say though that it does tend to help a lot to start out with a device that you already know the measurements of, then see over time how much it could be adjusted to fit even better. I’ve had devices that are too big, and now even too small. Hopefully the next iteration will be just right! 🙂

    • pcguy0681 says:

BTW, how are things going with your situation, chastity-wise, IF you don’t mind my asking?

      • Breaking for the summer, along with everyone else. I’ll certainly let you know when I have news of any worth. My own situation brings to mind the movement of glaciers…..

        • pcguy0681 says:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, either! Some things, like chastity, can’t just be rushed into (in my opinion anyway). Take it slow, make sure everyone is on board every step of the way, and it will be well worth the rewards in the end!
